Location of Trapezius
The trapezius is a large muscle in the human back. It extends from the neck area to the middle of the back. The muscle supports both arms and shoulders.
The trapezius muscle is named so owing to its peculiar shape inside the body. The right and left part of trapezius muscle meet together in such a way that it forms a trapezium having four irregular sides. It is precisely located on the upper back, a bit above the skull. It starts at the collarbone and joins shoulder blade located on the left as well as the right side due to which it forms four sided shape inside the body.

- Part 1: Upper fibres of the cervical vertebrae. This is the weakest part of the muscle and only provides minor elevation of the clavicle.
- Part 2: The area commonly known as upper Trapezius. This is a strong elevator, rotator and retractor of the scapula.
- Part 3: The mid-portion of the Trapzius. These fibres are mainly responsible for scapula retraction.
- Part 4: The lower fibres of Trapezius. This part of the muscle assists in retraction and rotation
